What this tool does

This tool helps you create and copy invisible characters. You can generate two kinds of “empty” text in any quantity, preview it visually, and copy it with one click. It also gives you a draft workspace with live character and word counts, a fast way to paste and copy, and a searchable panel of single whitespace characters like thin space, hair space, figure space, and more. If you add an optional container, the same script powers a big set of “text generators” for styles like bold, cursive, small caps, zalgo, Morse code, and many other effects.

Steps: generate invisible text

• In Step 1, set the quantity. Use the + and − buttons or type a number into the input. The tool caps the count at 10,000 and never lets it drop below 0.

• Pick a generator:
• Generator A uses the Braille blank character U+2800.
• Generator B uses the zero-width space U+200B.

• Step 2 shows your output. The textarea contains the actual invisible characters you will copy. On top of it, a non-selectable visual overlay helps you see what you generated:

• For A, you will see a blue block representing the Braille blanks.
• For B, you will see a row of thin red bars, one bar per character.

• Click “Copy Invisible Text” to put the output on your clipboard.
• Use “Reset” to go back to 1 character and generator A, then clear the output and preview.

The generator updates live when you change the quantity or switch between A and B. The overlay is just a visual guide. The real content sits in the disabled textarea and is what gets copied.

The two invisible characters, compared

• Braille blank U+2800 (Generator A)

• Width: usually renders as a space-like blank with measurable width.
• Good for visible spacing effects that still look “empty.”
• Often survives through most editors.

• Zero-width space U+200B (Generator B)

• Width: zero. It does not produce visible spacing by itself.
• Good for hidden separators, soft break hints, or “invisible” padding in identifiers.
• Some platforms strip or normalize it, so test where you plan to use it.

Draft workspace

Below the generator is a “Write Your Content” section:

• The main draft textarea lets you paste the invisible text into real content.
• A live counter shows characters and words. It updates on every input.
• “Paste” inserts clipboard text at the current cursor selection. This uses the Clipboard API, so your browser may prompt for permission.
• “Copy Draft” copies the entire draft textarea.
• “Clear Draft” empties it and resets the counters.

Copy single characters

You also get a grid of one-click buttons to copy specific whitespace and separator characters. Each button:

• Copies exactly one character.
• Has a descriptive label and a tooltip that explains where it is useful.
• Is searchable with the “Search characters” box. The filter matches by name and tooltip.

Copy behavior and permissions

The copy buttons use modern and fallback paths:

• Primary path: navigator.clipboard.writeText in a secure context. That means HTTPS or localhost.
• Fallback: a hidden <textarea> plus document.execCommand('copy'). This works on HTTP or older browsers.

After copying, the button briefly changes to show success, then returns to normal. If copying fails due to permissions, try serving the page over HTTPS or grant clipboard access when prompted.

Compatibility and limits

• Quantity limit: 10,000 characters for the main generator. Large counts can slow some apps and heat up previews, especially with zero-width characters. Start small and increase as needed.
• Normalization: Some platforms normalize or strip zero-width characters. Messaging apps, CMS editors, or form validators may remove or collapse them. If a platform “eats” your invisible text, switch to the other generator or try a wider space like U+2003.
• Search and indexing: Zero-width characters can make text look the same but compare differently. This can confuse search, sorting, or copy-paste diffs. Use with intention.
• Line endings: The “Line Separator” U+2028 acts as a true line separator in some engines. Be careful where you paste it.
• Accessibility: Invisible text can be confusing for screen readers and users who rely on keyboard navigation. Avoid using it to hide critical information. Keep your content usable.

Tips for reliable results

• Pick the right character for the job. If you need visual spacing, a visible space like Em or En is more predictable. If you need a hidden boundary, zero-width space is fine as long as the platform does not strip it.
• Test in the final destination. Paste into the actual app, site, or CMS and check how it renders, wraps, and counts.
• Keep it modest. A few characters are usually enough. Walls of invisible text can cause odd wrapping and make editing harder.
• Be transparent. Do not use invisible characters to mislead users or spoof names. They are best for spacing, formatting, and legitimate layout control.

Troubleshooting

• “Copy” does nothing: Serve the page over HTTPS or allow clipboard permissions. The fallback should still work in most cases, but some browsers restrict it inside iframes or sandboxed contexts.
• Pasting shows nothing: That is expected for zero-width space. Try toggling to Generator A to verify behavior. Or paste into a hex viewer or a code editor that displays invisible glyphs.
• Output looks empty in the overlay: The overlay is intentionally non-selectable and only a visual hint. The real characters are in the textarea. Use the Copy button.
• Some characters vanish after saving: Your platform may normalize Unicode. Try a different space type or reduce quantity.
